Kon Tum Museum depicts the local, cultural, historical and war past of the city. More than 20,000 artefacts, various writings and photos telling about the Central Highlands’s cultural heritage are kept in the museum which sits on an area of 16,000 sq metres next to Dak Bla Lake. In addition, the museum houses bamboo products, gongs, tea and other traditional costumes. The aging pictures on the walls represent important events from the country’s liberation and other eras too.
A further landmark that demonstrates the culture of the Tum is the Rong House. This house is especially noteworthy since everything in it is made from natural products such as bamboo, wood and grass. It has been found that Rong House is considerably taller, measuring 18 metres and its roof is in the form of a hammer. Different ethnic groups in the area are visible in the architecture of the house. Many people in the community treat this house as a holy site and several ceremonies and festivals are held there. When you visit, you may notice how the surroundings seem lighter and you could connect to the Supreme God straight away.
This city is known as Ma Den which means Second Da Lat and is built along a highway. The area is mostly famous for its waterfalls, creeks, villas and forest of pine trees, demonstrating Vietnam’s great natural wealth. The area is found some 60 kilometers away from Koh Tum Province and stands at an altitude of 1200 metres. Seeing everything draped with mist can lead you to the path to heaven if you set out in the morning. Because it once belonged to French colonists, their classic style is still clear here. It is possible to enjoy this place by exploring its nature and trying its local dishes.
Another example of great architecture in the centre of Kon Tum is the Con Coc Wooden Church. It was created more than a hundred years ago by mixing Roman and Ba Na people’s traditional house designs. Following the usual design of Tum houses, the church is built a metre higher than the ground. The building’s inside is designed using natural materials in its own way. There is a section that displays the items used by the different communities found in the area. Among all the churches in America, St. Augustine’s is well known for its special architecture, elaborated inside work and unique heritage.
Kon Tum includes Ngoc Linh Mountain, “the roof of Southern Vietnam, ” in its territory. Going to the mountains is necessary to see the beauty and experience the exciting adventures found in Kon Tum. Ngoc Linh Mountain stands at 8,524 ft (2,600 m) which makes it the tallest in Annamese Cordillera. Kon Tum’s northern region is known for its chilliness, blue and hazy sky, floating clouds and lush Greenland. It is the natural wonders as well as the history of the area that impress people. From the things excavated by archaeologists, it appears that the Co Tu were the first to live in the mountains and lived there across many generations.
