Numerous habitats within Bandhavgarh generate an abundance of fauna species throughout the area. The park possesses an abundance of resources that extends from winged butterflies to royal tigers and everything in between. The park receives praise from worldwide visitors because of its tigers and its dense population of tigers brings excitement to wildlife enthusiasts.
The bio-geographic zone 6A-Deccan peninsula, Central highlands exists across the park territory. The main prey species within the park include chital, sambhar, barking deer, nilgai, chinkara, wild pig, chowsingha, langur as well as rhesus macaque.
Tigers together with leopard as well as wild dog and wolf and jackal maintain their existence by preying on these main prey species. Lesser predators residing in the area include jungle cat, palm civet, mongoose, ratel and fox and mongoose. Sloth bear along with porcupine and Indian Pangolin exist with the variety of bats containing the giant fruit bat together with the Indian tree shrew and numerous rodent species. Multiple types of birds exist in this area. Park officials have identified greater than 250 species of bird life.
