Built in 1405 A.D. by the then Governor of Malwa province of Control India, Dilawar Khan, Lat Masjid was named after iron pillar, wonderfully raised that time in its campus. This broken up wrought iron pillar from the beginning is in itself a marvel, because even though from ages ago it is found in an open space with air, water and moisture exposure it is intact. It has been able to keep its gleam and glory. There is still not a single sign of rust or any such corrosion untill today. Lat Masjid is also constructed as it is believed to be erected in commemoration of Dilawar Khan’s conquererous Victory. It has selling entrance doors with carved pillars, in several demos. The interior of mosque are similar in architectural pattern to that of jami masjid of Mandu. Wat the windows and pillars of lat masjid are beautifully engraved and one can feel the beautiful mix of mugal and Rajput style of the mughal architecture, and feel the silence of the history.
