<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The location of Sanchi sits 46 kilometres away from Bhopal. The place duoceeds as a typical rural settlement rather than an urban area. Visitors come to Sanchi to observe its important historical and archaeological religious significance. The hilltop of Sanchi contains many stupas that were built in this location. The place carries associations with Buddhism with no straight link to the life of Buddha. The site shares a greater connection with Ashoka as opposed to Buddha. Ashoka built the first stupa and placed many pillars at this location. The national emblem of India emerges from the celebrated crown of the Ashoka pillars that showcases four lions arranged in a standing position.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sanchi embraced the new Buddhist faith replacing the traditional Hindu beliefs. During the passing years both the Sanchi&#8217;s stupas together with their settlement disappeared from sight. In 1818 Sanchi became known to history after its discovery yet the surviving architectural artifacts were already in ruin. Steps were taken to identify the worth of the site both historically and theologically throughout time. Workers started to rebuild the stupas initially in 1881 followed by their precise restoration work between 1912 and 1919. The traditionally organized temples of mediaeval times are recognized as the best expression of ancient temple construction at Sanchi. Artists at this site achieved the standards of a jeweler&#8217;s workshop.</p>
