This ancient temple of Lord Murugan, which is located at Chennimalai hill is one of the famous pilgrim centers here. The stairs of 350 steps lead to the main temple section which provides breathtaking views of the city and the whopping bas-relief depictions of Hindu mythology in and around the temple make it even more impressive. It is believed that Lord Arunagirinathar received ‘Padikasu,’ a treasure of coins here and owing to the story associated with the legend, the temple proves to be historic. Further, as per the reports, the particular miracle took place on February, 12-1984.

The tourists in particular those who are bird watching enthusiasts consider the Vellore Bird Sanctuary as a Mecca and is one of the places of interest near Erode. The sanctuary is home to over 200 species of birds with some of the common bird species migrating birds that include the pelicans and darters. This makes it an excellent place for bird watching and taking of photographs, especially of the wetlands that stretch across the area.
