Set in the verdant slopes of the south of Mizoram, Hnahthial is a serene little town which gives a deep insight into the tribal culture and picturesque grandeur of the state. Hnahthial might not be well-known in the mainstream tourist map but it is a place that has its peace, culture, and touch with nature.
Hnahthial received the district status in 2019 when it was separated from the bigger Lunglei district. Even with its administrative immaturity, Hnahthial is a land of a community which, for a long time, has been proud of its affinity with Mizo traditions, where life is about simplicity, hospitality, and nature.
Surrounded by green hills, thick forests, and beautiful valleys, the town is a perfect place for people seeking immersion into untouched environments. It is not the “place of city life bustle” neither the “place of modern tourism infrastructure” but rather the “placid place of a more calm life”.
There is no specific opening and closing time as regards visiting Hnahthial, but it is advisable for people to visit during the daylight hours for the best experience and safety. Remember that tourist infrastructure is rudimentary so book accomodation and local transport in advance.
