Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Temple at Gudem Gutta in Mancherial District of Northern Telangana is a sacred tourist destination of thousands of pilgrims annually. The peace of the temple is reflected against the calm face of the Godavari river, not only a place of religious recourse but one that offers it’s visitors beauty and a truly relaxing atmosphere.

Temple Significance

Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Temple at Gudem Gutta is worship to Lord Satyanarayana which is a benevolent form of Lord Vishnu. The temple is particularly renowned for its residence of the Satyanarayana Vratam, a worship followed by the ardent followers who desire god blessing for prosperity, happiness and fulfillment of wishes.

Temple attracts huge number of pilgrims during sacred month known as Karthika Masam. Devotees take a holy dip of river godavary and then do the satyanarayana puja with full devotion and faith.

Gandhari Khilla (Gandhari Kota) is an ancient hill fort near Bokkalagutta to the east of the village Mandamarri of Mandamarri Mandal in Mancherial district in the south Indian state of Telangana.

It sits on the sand rock hills. There was a thickly forested area where the fort was built, where there is a wealth of plant species among them being numerous medicinal herbs. The fort has never been thoroughly excavated and part of it still remains under forest.

The Mahankali Jatara (quarry jatara) occurs annually, and over 10,000 people come to participate. Gandhari maisamma jatra is held in the temple of the fort in Gandhari for the once in every 2 year and the tribal people from Vindhya region i.e maharashtra, Chhattisgarh join it on the other bankside.

The Mancherial – Bellampalli highway runs close to the fort that is 3km away from the Bokkalagutta village.

Gandhari Maisamma temple is found at the fort.
