Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple, (Kesaragiri Kshetram) at Keesaragutta is one of very ancient and historical temple in Telangana State. It is located at Keesara (V & M) Medchal Malkajgiri Dist. It is quite small distance from telangana capital city of Hyderabad, around 35 km. The temple was believed to have existed from THRETHAYUGA. It is written in traditional literature that after killing RAVANA LORD RAMACHANDRA visited this place and wanted to install 101 shivalingams in this sacred place and ordered as follows.
SRI BHAKTA HANUMAN to take 101 Shivalingams from Varanasi. SRI HANUMAN could not come back to Varanasi before the muhurtham even Thailand SHIVA said to have appeared before SRI RAMACHANDRA and gave him a self manifested Shivalingam for installation at the specific place at the specific auspicious moment. SRI BHAKTA HANUMAN returned after the auspicious moments with 101 Shivalingams from Varanasi and threw out 101 Shivalingams brought by him from Varanasi, when he observed the installation of self manifested Shivalingam, was disappointed. In time has become “Keesara Gutta” Kesarigiri. Since the Shivalingam in the temple was said to be Swayambhu Swamy, itwas named after Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy Devasthanam.
Shamirpet Lake also known as ‘Pedda Cheruvu’ is one of the well designed tourist spot in the city of Hyderabad. About 27 km from Secunderabad, this beautiful artificial lake is the best representation of serenity and tranquillity. In fact, Shamirpet Lake is close to ‘Jawahar Deer Park’ contributing to the magnificence of the place. There is always opportunity to spot an herd of deer sating its thirst around the banks of the lake, a very interesting sight indeed. The surrounding area around the pond is blanket in one large expanse of greenery in which one can identify several species of plant and trees. Particular attention has been paid to restore the area for that purpose, several forest cottages have been set up near the lake to the convenience of tourists. One of the significant events organized around the lakes; is a boating activity, which is an excellent approach of interacting with the natural splendour of the lake. This is a great place to take pictures and visit the birds.
