The Uma Maheshwara Swamy temple is found in the lovely Nallamala woodland region close to Mannanur Village in Amrabad Mandal. The temple was erected at the time of Maurya Chandragupta in the second century. In the temple is a three side Shivalinga. black and white on one side and one with crimson on the other. The god in this temple is reportedly found in a naturally created cave. The constant stream of water from these hills on this lovely temple gives a feeling that Goddess Ganga is showering her purity here. There is a huge tank near the temple. It is one of the Jyotirlingas and a northern entrance to Srisailam. It sits upon a hill flanked by enormous trees.
The temple is sheltered by the hill ranges. A lot of sunshine does not hit this area during the day which leads to low temperatures throughout the year. It is also called: Poor Man’s Ooti. Papanasanam is about 200 meters away from the sanctum sanctorum, and water spills out behind huge rocks all the year.
