The Sangambanda Dam (Sangambanda Balancing Reservoir) is an important irrigation project close to Makthal in Narayanpet district, Telangana. Frigerated on the the Krishna river, the dam is instrumental in ensuring agriculture and water-keeping in the region.
The size of the Sangambanda reservoir was designed to hold a storage capacity of 3.37 TMC (thousand million cubic feet). However, because of delay in relocation of residents from areas slated for submersion, the reservoir has experienced operating below capacity having capacity 2 TMC of water. This deficiency has affected the irrigation potential of the reservoir.

Although of all sense , the left canal’s extension is incomplete , pending construction work and land acquisition challenges. The local farmers have been lobbying for the completion of such works in order to support consistent water supply for agriculture.
