The Wat Phra Dhammakaya, one of the main Buddhist temples, is in the Khlong Luang District of Pathum Thani Province, Thail On February 20, 1970, Maechi Chandra Khonnokyoong and Luang Por Dhammajayo established the temple, using a 80-acre land given by Lady Prayad Pattayapongsavisuttatibodi. At first, it existed as a meditation place, but in 1981 official recognition of it as a temple came.
Historical Background
Wat Phra Dhammakaya is founded on a meditation tradition known as Vijja Dhammakaya which was made relevant again in the early 20th century by Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro, who was once the abbot of Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen. This temple was created to support practice of this meditation and to aid growth in spiritual life.
Over the past years, the temple has grown its area to over 1,000 acres due to an increase in the number of people wanting to visit and practice. It has risen to become one of Thailand’s most important and rapidly growing temples, winning the hearts of millions at home and abroad.
Architectural Highlights
Dhammakaya Cetiya: A giant stupa with a dome was built at the temple’s heart. After construction in 2000, 1 million Buddha statues were added—300,000 on the outer walls and another 700,000 inside. World peace is reflected within one’s self by the Cetiya and vast crowds of around 600,000 can be housed during important ceremonies.
In honour of Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro, the hall has been built and contains eight solid gold statues. It offers peace and a chance for quiet reflection.
Future Park Rangsit is part of the Pathum Thani Province north of Bangkok and has become one of the biggest shopping centers in Asia. In 2007, Talad Thai started operating a market for fresh vegetables and twelve years later built a seasonal fruit market. In that year, it started a new international fruit market and container market to manage imported fruits, earning a leading position in ASEAN’s agricultural trade.

Talad Thai is very important for the agriculture in Thailand, helping more than 150,000 farmers while handling around 12,000 tons of agricultural products daily. It is estimated that the daily amount of money exchanged at the market is between 500 and 600 million baht due to 100,000 visitors and 25,000 vehicles.
