This waterfall exists in the Vanva river region of Thenzawl resulting in its name because Vantawnga displayed extraordinary swimming abilities. Because of his outstanding swimming abilities Vantawnga could perform like an aquatic creature when floating in water but death came when an unconscious log rolled from above during one of his exhibitions.
Visitors can observe the 750 ft waterfall from a comfortable observation tower due to the limited visibility from forested hills.
Vantawng Falls can be best experienced during the period from September through January when visibility becomes clearer. Through the lush Mizo Hills visitors can see the waterfall fully operational at its maximum power. During September to January the falling water creates an impressive sight because the entire area around it becomes greener and denser. Due to the elevated position the weather in winters becomes freezing leading to a requirement for protection from the cold especially at night. Plenty of woollens should be packed because of the cold weather.
