Within eastern Nagaland’s verdant environment the Zungki River operates as the Tizu River’s biggest contributing water source while maintaining dual importance for the environment and local traditions.
The Zungki River begins its course at the northeastern region of Changdong forest which lies to the south of Teku. The river emerges from its source to start a southern movement while crossing through exquisite and distant areas across Nagaland.
Through its path the Zungki discharges its waters across Noklak Shamator and Kiphire regions while supporting the communities by sustaining their livelihoods. Besides supporting daily life and agriculture this river stream creates a peaceful atmosphere throughout the region.
The Zungki River finds its terminus point by uniting with Tizu River below Kiphire town before forming part of the main river network in Nagaland. The place where Zungki merges with Tizu River establishes an important geographical landmark significant to local tribal culture.
