Various endangered and rare species find their protective home at Manas National Park in Assam which holds titles of a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site together with tiger and elephant reserve and biosphere reserve recognition. The origin of Manas National Park stems from River Manas that serves as its major tributary of Brahmaputra River while flowing through the protected area. Manas National Park stretches over 950 sq km of territory to embrace Assam roofed turtles together with hispid hares and golden langurs and pygmy hogs among other species. The wildlife reserve consists of Chirang Darrang Kokrajhar Udalguri and Baska districts in Assam while it has three ranges named Bansbari Central and Panbari Western and Bhuiapara Eastern within its borders. Visitors regard Manas National Park as a conservation area which qualifies it as one of India’s essential wildlife places to explore.

History

Before the year 1928 Manas National Park existed as the Reserve Forest of Manas R.F. and North Kamrup R.F. The wildlife sanctuary status of the 360-sq-km area began on October 1st 1928. The forest expansion from 1951 to 1955 reached 391 km² while Manas Biosphere Reserve received its establishment in 1973. In 1985 UNESCO declared the park as a Natural World Heritage Site.

The Panbari R.F. together with Kahitama R.F. joined to form Manas National Park during 1990. The World Heritage Status of this park was confirmed as endangered by UNESCO due to poaching alongside terrorist activities during 1992. The officials expanded Manas National Park territory from its original size to 950 km² during 2008. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization removed Manas National Park from its list of World Heritage Sites in Danger in 2011 because of its successful conservation work.

2.Manas Soushi Khongkhor

Manas Soushi Khongkhor is a very beautiful picnic spot situated at Baksa district of Assam. Well known for eco tourism, it is habitat at home in numerous species of plant. The park is very pretty and is even prettier when all the flowers bloom, with numerous colorful butterflies.

Being settle beside the Bhutan Hills, this place has perfectly view. The Pagladia river passes beside Sumulia and this also presents to the scenes of the area. If you are fortunate, you could also catch sight of various wild animals around, such as bison, hog deer, Royal Bengal Tiger, white belly heron, and deer among others. This site is managed by Manas Soushi Khongkhor Eco Tourism Society (MASKETS), a NGO.

Baksa as a district really has much to offer to its tourists. The Manas National Park, is a reserve forest on the foothill of Bhutan Hills, is the den for many of the wild species of flora and fauna and this is the main tourist spot of this place. Here, there are more than 60 species of mammals, 42 species of reptiles, 7 species of amphibians, 312 different species of birds, 54 fish species being discovered.

Moinapukhuri near the India-Bhutan border too forms a part of your itinerary as you travel to other Baliyang Caves. You have to walk for 3km to reach at the place there is a dead lake and forest picntyr spot. There are also present Bogamati, situated on the confluence of River Barnadi.

Best Time to Visit

The best period to visit Manas Soushi Khongkhor is from late October till late February. The temperature is ranging 12-16 degree Celsius in this time.

Bogamati is situated at Baksa district of Assam on the foot hills of Indo Bhotan Border is beautiful Picnic site.
