1.Barpeta Satra 

Dating as far as 500 years old, Barpeta Satra is an important pilgrimage site for Assam. It is the creation of a saint named Madhabdev in 1583 AD and was earlier named as Barpetathan. Saint Madhabdev stayed in Tongabari for 8 long years but came out of this place to carry out his discipleship under the guidance of Sri Srimanta Sankaradeva and handed-over the responsibility of the satra to his one of the disciples named Sri Mathura Das Burha Ata.

Satra’s beginning is – 3 Batchara (entry gates). The main compound is safeguarded by wall, are Nahati Batchara (west side input) , Uttar Hati Batchara (from north input) and Dakshinhati Batchara (from the south input) . At opposite (east) side of the satra a river flow surroundings by-granting (Hari Jaan).
