1. Dekuli Dhaam

Located in the middle of Bihar Baba Bhawaneshwar Nath Temple operates under the common name Dekuli Shiv Mandir as an ancient religious sanctum. This temple maintains important historical cultural and spiritual worth extending back to the time of Dwapar Yuga. Devotees and history enthusiasts seek the shrine because its foundation and mystical tales together with its distinct design make it a sacred pilgrimage site.

History

Local tradition indicates that Dekuli Shiv Mandir emerged during the Dwapar Yuga which stands as one of four time divisions described in Hindu mythology. A single stone construction distinguishes this temple since ancient artisans completed it by carving one massive block of stone.

Local scholars have compared the importance of Dekuli Shiv Mandir with two other sacred locations: the Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal along with the Harihar region of India. As reported in the British Gazette published in 1956. Official legal documents use this temple as an example of a “very ancient and significant religious structure” as documented by the Calcutta High Court decision.

The temple worships Lord Shiva who stands among the principal divinities in Hinduism. Devotees visit the temple to perform Jalabhishek (water offering) at the Shiva Linga which holds divine power at this temple in order to obtain blessings and fulfill their wishes.

A sacred Sri Yantra diagram lies on top of the temple which Hindu followers associate with the goddess of wealth and prosperity. People who perform Jalabhishek with deep devotion at this place achieve the fulfillment of their wishes.

In 1962 Saint Prem Bhikshu from Chhatouni village conducted an important excavation near the temple because many people considered him to be the conscious incarnation of Bihar. Architectural items and sculptures from the Dwapar era emerged from this excavation which solidified the antiquity of the site.

Best Time to Visit

Visiting Dekuli Shiv Mandir is most suitable during October to March when temperatures remain cool. Shivaratri and the sacred Sawan month are the best times to visit and witness the active religious spirit of Dekuli Shiv Mandir.
