Also referred as Rajiv Gandhi National Park Orang spread over Darrang and Sonitpur districts of Assam. The wildlife reserve is located at a place of 78.81 square kilometres which was recognized as a National park in the year 1999. Orang is said to have similar scenery of the famous Kaziranga National Park with natural location of marshes, streams and grasslands. The park is also known to be the largest reserve to protect on-horned rhinos on the northern bank of River Brahmaputra. Flora and fauna of the place include species of animals and plants like royal Bengal tiger, Asiatic elephant, pygmy hog, hog deer and wild boar. Similarly there are 220 species of native bird species and 50 varieties of fish likewise, the national park also has good pastime of Gangetic Dolphins. Seven types of turtle and tortoise as well as snakes like pythons and cobras can also be seen in Orang.

The closet airport to Orang National Park is Tezpur names Salonibari airport, which is at an almost 80 km distance. One requires hiring a taxi from all three places to reach Orang National Park.

2.Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary

Located in foothills of Himalayas, Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary spreads in Udalguri and Baksa districts of Assam. The sanctuary is the venue of Bhutan border also and is spread in an area of 26 sq kms. It is named as the location is named after the River Bornadi which flows along the western side of this wildlife reserve. Bornadi Wild Life Sanctuary was brought into existence with the purpose of conserving and installing the rare Hispid Hare and Pygmy Hog species and was declared in the year 1980 as the wildlife sanctuary.

Some of the other species of animals available in the reserve are golden langur, clouded leopard, hoolock gibbon and white-winged wood duck. In addition to a fair assorted grouping of migratory birds, many other who can all be found in Bornadi.

Jeep Safari and bird watching, animal spotting of Hispid Hare and Pygmy Hog are major activities of Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary.

Getting There
Bornadi WS is proximal to the international airport at Guwahati at a distance of 150 kms. A domestic airport is situated at Tezpur, which is 140 kms away. The nearest railway station is Mangaldoi which is located at distance of approximately 70 km from the sanctuary. One has to take a taxi from the one of these destination to reach wildlife reserve.

Best Time to Visit

The best period to visit Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary is between November and April, when the weather is quite friendly, neither extremely hot nor extremely cold.

3.Bhairabkunda

It is place like it has been painted at a canvas exactly painted in the all the color of nature. It is a popular site for picnics and due to its peace and quiet it`s is a place visited by couples and families. Bhairabkunda by situating in the Udalguri district of Assam situated at 703 metres above sea-level and is adjacent to Bhutanese town Daifam. It is a boundary of Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan and a must-visit it has to be. Bhairabi river and Jampani river, both are the tributries of Bhutan meets here and forms River Dhanshiri and offers an eye pleasing sight to see. This is one of the vital tributaries of river Brahmaputra and also is subjected to dam this. It is designed in form of Kunda which means the Worshipping place of Shiva and from that only the name Bhairabkunda.

Popular Thing
There is a famous Shiva temple in its vicinity and is a place of worship visited by pilgrims throughout the year. Geographically temple is a part of Bhutan though it is included in Indian itinerary.

Daifam, the Bhutanese town is a well known city in wine trade and also visit this place. The local guides will assist you to visit the interior wine generating enterprises.

Bathing in the river is allowed leaking the waters are not too deep so an enjoyable leisure time for families and children.

Getting There
From Udalguri Railway Station, tourists directly take cabs available to Bhairabkunda. The bus stand has some private car rental service from where you can hire a taxi to come at Bhairabkunda. Buses arrive from daily Guwahati and Itanagar at this stand.

Best Time to Visit

Bhairabkunda is the best visited place during winter. The season is from November to March. The summers are warm and moist with occasional showers. While monsoon does see good deal of rainfall, and you should avoid it.
