The town hall of Bapatla stands at the path leading to Suryalanka Beach which functions as a seaside community. Edward VII’s coronation celebration resulted in the construction of this durable community hall that doubled as public hub and leisure area since its inception in 1905. The community constructed this facility through collected popular donations because no government or local funds provided assistance. On July 17, 1905 Broodie who served as the Collector of Guntur district performed the opening ceremony for Edward Coronation Memorial Town Hall.
In 1913 at the hall the initial Andhra Conference began leading to the launch of the linguistic states political drive which became one of many important events the hall hosted. The 1913 First Andhra Provincial Conference at the venue became famous for characterizing the public call for a free Telugu State. From its inception the property transformed into an essential hub for literary and cultural along with all public political activities. This historic facility has been recognized by several Andhra leaders who interacted with it including Mahatma Gandhi along with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Babu Rajendra Prasad, Jayaprakash Narayan, Dange and many additional figures. In 1896 the Victoria Diamond Jubilee Club and the Newspaper Club combined forces with the Town Hall at Bapatla which later came into existence in 1905.
