JhumriTelaiya is a small town of Koderma Sub Division. Jhumri is the name of the old village in the area ahead, which is now in the town. The word “Telaiya” is the Hindi word for Small Lake. It was also a centre for mica mining in the past. The British found out minerals for the first time in the Koderma region, when British laid a railway across through Koderma in late 19th century.
