A small paradise for nature enthusiasts and history buffs exists in Madhya Pradesh’s peaceful natural surroundings under the name Mukundpur White Tiger Safari. The distinct destination provides visitors an opportunity to see white tigers and follow the historical path of Mohan who became the first white tiger rescued from India.
May 27, 1951 marks the beginning of the story within the Bargadi forest region which resides in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district. The beginning moment of discovery led Maharaja Martand Singh of Rewa to discover a rare white tiger cub which he then named Mohan.
The very first day after being brought to the Govindgarh Palace in Rewa Mohan the Mohan the escaped from his captivity. Search operations located Mohan at the Mukundpur area that rested approximately 27 kilometers away from Rewa. During more than twenty years at this place Mohan established himself as the regional symbol of pride.
Maihar contains the Bada Akhara Temple which serves as a powerful and sacred shrine in the spiritually abundant city. Local residents and worshipers from the entire region express deep devotional feelings toward the temple because it worships Lord Shiva.
