Lakkundi is paradise of temples. Lakkundi; is at a distance of 11 km from Gadag in Gadag district to the south east. According to the inscriptions, Lakkundi was also called as ‘Lokki Gundi’ in the inscription; a major city a thousand years ago.

Lakkundi is place of antiquarian interest and has more than 50 ancient temples located all over the village, 101 stepped wells known as Kalyani and many inscriptions constructed under the rule of the Chalukya, Kalachuri , Seuna and Hoysalas respectively.

Kasi Vishwanatha Temple is the most ornate and ornate decorated. Lakkundi is also jain center. Trikuteshwara Temple is a magnificent Shiva temple situated in Gadag town, within Gadag district of North Karnataka. Gadag is rider by the ancient temples, majority of them being erected through the period of Kalyani Chalukya.
